Background
Gandalf has been trading since 2011, giving him a market history that spans multiple volatility regimes. His approach is opportunity-driven rather than tied to a single ticker or one recurring setup: he looks for momentum, volatility expansion and options pricing that appears favorable relative to the underlying catalyst.
He began working with CoolaDoola through the OptionScalps side of the business in 2023 and was publicly active in that trading community before joining the Rawstocks desk following the 2025 merger.
Earnings and news-driven markets are a natural fit for his style because they can create the volatility expansion and repricing he looks for. His universe can range from SPX and large-cap technology to less conventional single names when the catalyst and options structure justify the trade.
His risk framework is defined rather than open-ended, generally using 3–5% risk while selectively adjusting position size when volatility and the quality of the opportunity warrant it.
